    MIXED REALITY APPLICATION

    MetaSuit envisions the integration of soft artificial muscles into a full-body suit which allows to map the pose and movement of people while also providing hapitic feedback.

    MEDICAL APPLICATION

    Patients could wear our suit after surgery to use the motion data for rehabilitation purposes. Parkinson's patients could receive haptic feedback to reactivate their frozen muscles.

    The project's main objective is to create a soft, light and natural feeling suit that will allow users to move and interact within VR environments and overcome many of the drawbacks of vision based motion capture systems and handheld devices.

    Cheap Novel Artificial Muscles

    When a voltage is applied, the electrodes on the left contract, causing the liquid to be forced to the other side letting the HASEL to contract like a muscle.

  • Focus Project

    The focus project is a curricular program open to students of mechanical and electrical engineering at ETH Zurich in the final year of their bachelor's degree. Over nine months, the team commits itself to solving complex engineering problems under the supervision of a professor. The project allows students to develop technical knowledge, project management skills and to build relationships with academic as well as industrial partners. MetaSuit is overseen and supported by the Soft Robitics Lab and the Sensory-Motor Systems Lab.
